CNN International is the world’s leading global 24-hour news network. Launched in 1985, its output comprises CNN’s trademark breaking news, business reports, sports coverage, current affairs and analysis, alongside documentaries and feature programming.
Since CNN launched in 1980, as the world’s first 24-hour news service, it has continued to lead the market - delivering fast, accurate reports to a global audience of millions. Around the globe it has become synonymous with accurate and impartial breaking news. CNN's 24 branded networks and services across television, radio, online and mobile are available to more than two billion people worldwide, in six languages, across more than 200 countries and territories.
The network’s rich heritage of in-depth coverage and analysis has placed it at the centre of international events and stories of global importance. To build on this rich heritage, CNN continues to invest in intelligent and compelling news, feature and documentary programming across a range of platforms including mobile and IPTV, as well as its landmark television service and international website, CNN.com.
CNN launched its own dedicated user-generated content initiative, iReport, in 2006. This gathers eye-witness accounts – using video, text and images – from CNN’s growing, global network of “citizen journalists” to add depth and personal insights to the stories reported by CNN’s professional news teams. iReport now has close to a million registered contributors and submissions from around the world.
Away from CNN’s base in Atlanta, major production centres in London, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi continue as major production centres, producing more than 80 hours of programming a week. The network continues to invest in its international newsgathering operation and now has bureaux in 47 major cities around the world, with a network of over 1000 broadcast affiliates worldwide.
